Elizabeth she came across as person with feelings and whenever I have walked around her residence on the Isle of white I think she left alot of herself there not just in the house but the grounds and she always seemed dignified. I wish I had lived in those times I loved all those big dresses and busells she always looked so elegant not tarty like the women today. Did you like anything about her?

  2. No, Queen Victoria is even uglier than today's queen. Gross!

  3. Didn't she use cannabis for period pains..

not that she would have had many periods the amount of kids she had...

  4. Queen Victoria was my favourite Queen of UK.

  5. never met her

  6. which queen??? u talk about victoria AND elizabeth.

  7. I think queen Victoria was a very interesting woman.  She had her good and her bad points, but she had a much better sense of humour than she is normally given credit for, and she wasn't nearly such a prude as she is sometimes thought to be.  And she had very strong opinions and voiced them vigorously, which I like.  She went a bit overboard in her grieving for Prince Albert, but even that has been exaggerated, she didn't actually spend the rest of her life moping over him, she soon recovered her interest in life.  She was in many ways quite unconventional, and she had a very interesting personality.

I think I would agree with Max Beerbohm, who wrote in the margin of a book that described her as 'the great and good' - 'or at any rate the Good and Human, the Likeable, the ever Lovable; and the Peculiar, the never Uninteresting'.

However, I don't like the clothes of those days, i'd rather wear jeans than a bustle any day.

  8. Queen Victoria was one of my favourite monarchs to read about.  No too many were aware of her sense of humour as she was generally depicted in photos as looking very grim!

But when you think about it any mother with 9 children had to have a sense of humour - although she was down right nasty to her eldest son.  I saw some of the drawings she did (and she was a talented artist) and they were of her children and a really good one (self portrait at 15) she did when she was sick and in bed.  Too bad not enough people knew that side of her personality.

Wow!  That must have been something to walk around her estate in the Isle of White.  I know that when Victoria died her daughter-in-law Princess Alexandra didn't want to touch or remove too much of her decor except a lot of the tartan wallpaper and sickly old faded pink carpeting.

  9. I think it is impossible to make a judgement about people you do not personally know.

The only things any of us know about those 2 women is what has been written about them & since the press are not exactly known for accuracy, I will reserve judgement.
