  1. the pp are right about pica. this is common in malnurioused and even pregnant indiviuals.

but i cant imagine what she could be missing in wax. that is weird. perhaps its a texture thing. cant be good for her. most candles and such these days arent real wax they are chemical substutes.

    how old???

  2. She is missing wax.

  3. Does she have any other issues?  The desire to eat non-food items is called pica, and it's a diagnosable problem.  If she really does do this, the pediatrician should be told.  Perhaps there's a vitamin deficiency or something.

  4. wax? haha lol thats kool! Dont worry about her shes not ur kid....let her mom take care of her "problem"!

  5. Hmm could be pica, or could be she just likes the texture.. its chewy and feel kinda cool in your mouth.. have you ever chewed on wax?  Like those wax candys that look like lips?  I personally hated the way it made my teeth feel but my sister loved chewing on wax.. she doesnt have any issues or diet problems.  But i dont recall her ever actually swallowing it.. if your neices mother is concerned maybe she should talk to her doc.

  6. When I was a kid I ate crayons--they have wax.  I outgrew that  and I am sure so will your niece.

  7. Sounds like Pica. I'm no doctor, but I've heard of oxycodone-induced pica being countered with Maloxone.
