  1. Wal-Mart has everything you need.  The cheapest place?  YOu just bought a 47 inch plasma tv, money should not be what you are worried about

  2. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Plasma HDTVs don't make good computer monitors.

This is because most of them still suffer from "burn-in."

This happens when a static (non-moving) image is left on a plasma screen for an extended period of time (20+ minutes.)

The image will "burn-into" the screen, which pretty much ruins the TV. Think of a desktop icon as a branding iron for your screen.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you'll ruin your new TV by using it as a computer monitor.

  3. It depends on the video card you have in your computer.

Tiger Direct is probably the cheapest place and they can probably help you decide what one you need.

    go to   www.TigerDirect.com

  4. You'll probably need a VGA or DVI cable as well as something for sound.  If your computer is new, it might have an HDMI input.

The advantage to using HDMI is that it includes both video and audio in one single cable.  DVI and VGA only provide video from your computer, so you'll need another cable to provide the audio.

The best place to look is http://www.monoprice.com/.  Don't be fooled into the $80-$100 cables you see on display at Best Buy -- there's no difference (unless you're really, really technical).  In a nutshell, the signal is all digital over those connections, so it's either 100% or 0%.

    Good luck!
