Go to the US patent office website, and it will help you with filing. Also, write up your idea, date it, put it in a sealed envelope, then go to the post office and have it post marked. This is where they put the date on the envelope, which proves when you first thought of the idea. DO NOT open the envelope until instructed to do so by a lawyer or other agency that can guarantee that your rights are protected.
