Sounds like you overfilled the crankcase with oil.  Check the oil level with the dipstick and drain any excess.  Never fill above the full mark.  Next check the air filter.  It could have oil on it.  Excess oil can be vented out of the crankcase and into the air filter area.  If it has oil on it change it.

I'll continue with the trend, too much oil.  Sounds like you are using one with a Tecumseh engine.  I have done it myself on new machines.  Best solution is to try and get the oil level back down just below the full mark.

Too much oil added.Drain or burn it off to full mark.
