I just bought a Linksys wireless-g broadband router (model WRT54G2, if that matters) and my land line telephone no longer works. Even when I unplugged the router and replaced everything the way it was when the phone worked, my phone no longer works. Internet connection is fine, however. Has anyone had problems like this before? Does anyone know how I could fix it? Please help.

p.s. I have comcast digital voice, if that matters at all.

  1. I assume that comcast digital voice is not your primary phone service.

If so, you should pay someone to beat you with a bat because you are stupid.

For comcast digital voice to work, your internet service has to work and then their telephony service has to work. In reality, the phone service is down, a lot. 911 doesn't work either, but you will find that out if your house starts on fire and you have to break the neighbors door down to call 911 (that is if you have this as you primary phone service).

Make sure that the router is set up correctly. Make sure MAC cloning is set up. To reset it you will have to call comcast several times (if this is your primary phone service) because when they reset your modem, you will loose them and have to call back and be put at the end of the queue.
