Question:

I have a nikon d80and sb-800 with 18-55 dx lens and 55-200 dx lens. will they work to take wedding pictures?

or do i need to buy other lens.any advice will be great.

  1. The focal lengths themselves are fine.

    You may need additional lighting help, such as a flash cord and flash bracket to help avoid side shadow in a portrait orientation.  Additional batteries would be a big help as would bigger memory cards.

    And you need the experience to know what you are doing.

    If your weddings are available light, you might want to invest in a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, which is better for low-available light shooting.

    But the biggest thing you need isn't lenses as much as practical experience photographing weddings, posing people, lighting properly, watching backgrounds and making sure the small details are right in the photo.


  2. Look at the specs on the SB800.

    You will see that it can reach out to over 125 feet at 35 mm to 184 feet at 105 mm @ISO 100.

    Probably enough for your purposes.
