  1. No.. You Don't ' Have ' Too..

usually, when you use the flash, it takes away from the image, you know if focuses on one area, and make it really bright, and in my amateur opinion, flash should never be used, only when you don't have a tripod.

In your situation, you don't have to use flash at all, you can just use a tripod, or some books, anything that will stabilize the shot, and make every aligned to make sure there's not movement whatsoever. In my opinion, using flash isn't that good of a thing when you don't ' have ' to. use a tripod, or something else. Flash takes away from the quality of the image overall.

oh, you'll have to use a very low shutter speed.

  2. Well you don't have to as said before how fast is the lens you are using. To not use flash indoors I would want at least a F2.8 lens. I love the way a flash bounced looks though and find I always use the flash indoors and out. To fill in shadows.

  3. Depends on lighting conditions. If you have sufficient light, you do not need a flash. However there are many (many!) ocasions (both indoors and outdoors) where you may want to boost lighting with the flash.   Your camera, while a bit old, allows you to play quite a bit with the shutter speed, which will allow some flexibility but I would recomend to always have a flash on hand.

Please check this link for a very good tutorial on flash usage.
