  1. Not sure what NVQ is, and you might want to spell special correctly, before you get 100 people on here making fun of you for spelling it wrong. It's not spacial. Teaching assistants need to be considered Highly Qualified for No Child Left Behind standards. HQ is different in every state, so for your state reqs, check your Dept of Ed website. In my state you have to have 60 college credits, or pass the state's parapro exam, but it could be different for you. It also makes a difference where you want to teach. Public schools need to follow NCLB because they're govt funded. Private schools and some charter schools don't. Again, best place to check is your DOE website and/or the school you want to teach at.


  2. My local secondary school (ages 11 -16) employed a former pupil aged 16 as a teaching assistant. She just scraped a GCSE in english and maths - so you shouldn't have a problem!!
