The Xbox 360 Pro (regular) comes with the aux cables red yellow n white.

they also have the green n blue wires for HD along with the HD n normal tv switch.

my tv is oldish i think its like a '01-'03 maybe '05

but it has the green n blue input sockets.

If i plug my HD cables into it n use the HDTV switch

will it s***w up my tv?

or should i not risk it n stay with the normal tv settings...

?

  1. Wait so does your tv have HD settings? Mine is autodetecting, so if I hooked the Xbox up with HD, the tv automatically changes to the HD setting (if yours has HD and is older, you might have to change the setting manually on the tv (to 720 or 1080)).

Also just plugging it in and flipping the switch to HD won't do it. You also have to go into the system menu from the Xbox dashboard and change the output there.

But it sounds like you are unsure if your tv even has HD capabilities..... I don't think it will s***w your tv up, but it might not display the picture (if it is not capable).

  2. it wont s***w it up but it probably wont work either

  3. it probably just won't work. I know it won't damage anything - but it won't carry the HD signal if it is not HD

  4. I'd say try it in HD mode with the Red, Green, Blue and Red/white audio connections.....

If you don't get a picture, then just reconnect your Yellow Red White connectors and set it to Normal....

Then try the R G B connectors again....

If your TV is actually an '01 model, you MIGHT actually have the COMPONENT connectors that use the NORMAL mode and NOT the HD MODE....

That's why XBox provides those settings.....

But the fact is the Yellow Red White (Composite) connections are kinda a "fallback" connection....if you can't get a picture, you can fallback on the composite connector, and ALWAYS get a picture, no matter what setting you have....

Then you can reset it to NORMAL using that connector.

DVD players and Games all have that Fallback mode....they have to.
