  1. They may not be iinterested in one another for severral reasons:  they may not be opposite sexes, they may not like each other 'that way', they may be too young, one may of a different age than the other (robbing the cradlle), they may not be healthy or comfortable enough to mate.  They not only mate, they BOND.  They make a commitment.  If you just got them, maybe they don't really trust that this is a safe place to raise a family...same goes for your budgies.   If you gott them as pets, maybe you should nott try to breed them.  Oftentimes, breeding birds are so protective they cannot be handled.

  2. Well, You have to make sure that they are opposite genders, you never know.

Also you have to make sure they have a nesting box they may just think it's wierd being with out a place to put the eggs.

They may also be nervous, if they are full grown, and you just got them.

  3. Yeah...I have always had a tough time getting MY Mixed Drinks (cocktails) to Mate and Reproduce...

  4. Cockatiels do not just mate because they are male and female. Some females may lay eggs whether they have mated or not.

You see, when they do mate it is for life. There has to be a chemistry there and they have to be mature (a female should be at least 6 months).

Some Cockatiels fall in love and start laying clutches right away. Whereas, I have one couple that are male and female, definitely love each other (they are inseparable) but they do not breed.

No one can guarantee that a male and female will mate and breed babies. No one can guarantee that a male and female can live in harmony; if the male get aggressive and wants to.

The courting process is unmistakable and very entertaining as you watch him try to snuggle up to her. At first she will shoo him away. He will continue and then one day stop. She will then start snuggling up to him. He will either shoo her away or respond immediately.

I put one of my females in with 6 males before she finally found one that she liked.

Remember to not remove the eggs as this takes a lot of calcium from the female. If you remove them she will just lay another. Wait until they have been abandoned for at least a few weeks. Abandoned for a few weeks; not laid.

  5. make sure theyare opposite genders and if they are out them in the position of mating and that will incorage the male
