I have a pair of five year old ducks. One died. What should I do about the other one? Can older ducks re-bond?

  1. maybe, it takes time for a bird to bond and get used 2 new birds.


  2. Yes. If given the chance it would find a new mate in the spring. That is the only time they care about a mate. Most ducks only mate as a seaonal thing. Some will remate to former mates. Most find a new mate every year. Even the geese that they say mate for life..........well they do......until one of them dies.  A old goose will get a young gander and wait for him to become breeding age.  A  gander will try to find a breeding age goose. Go get your duck another friend. If it has been use to having another duck around then you need to supply him with a new companion.
