I live in a city.

I used to live on a farm but I moved with my dad.

I cannot go back to the farm as it is 2 provinces away.

I really want a horse or to go horseback riding.

I can go horseback riding on trails only once in a while cause I go at a local stable. And its boring going alone because none of my friends want to come.

How can I go horseback riding or get my own horse or volunteer somewhere?

Oh and I go riding here: http://matsquistables.com/stall-board.html

  1. Why not see if anyone wants to horse share at a local stables?

That way you kill two birds with one stone, you get to ride and look after yr own (non riding school) horse and you make a horsey friend :)

    **** luck

  2. why don't you just ask your dad if you can get a horse and if he says yes keep your horse at the stable you ride

  3. Can't you just ride a broom stick and use your imagination.

Just ride it out on the streets

  4. I volunteer as a lesson assistant. I dont know if your stable would be interested in that but it's definently an option! What i do is i teach the kids how to groom and tack up the horses. (you know help out the instructers). At my barn my payment is one free riding lesson for every day i work. That's one option!

Or you could lease a horse. This means that for so many days out of a week you get to have the horse all to yourself. Its really nice because then you only pay around half of everything you would normally have to pay for if you were to buy a horse. Many owners post signs when their horse is up for lease. So ask around!

Also Lessons! You could do that!

  5. well i noticed that in the link you provided it was mentioned that there would be possible job openings this year. perhaps you could ask about a part-time job. even if it's just basic things like mucking out and rugging, at least you'll get to spend time with horses. your instructor also might let you work for lessons. stuff like this will increase your horse time. as for volunteering, perhaps there is an equine rescue nearby that you could help out at. or you could do what i do and volunteer at a horse riding centre for disabled people. it's very rewarding work :)

  6. Well, if you really want a horse and live in a city, the place were you can ride can board your horse, which means keep it in their barn. But, usually everyday you have to go and help take care of it. It can be expensive. But i guess if you live in the city that is the only way you can actually have a horse.

  7. since you live in the city keep volunteering and helping people who have horses cause this is a good way to learn more about horses and show you if you truly want a horse. do not get a horse right now because then you have to find a place to keep your horse and that might be far away and then have to deal with the boarding which could be high because you live in the city and hardly any farms near you and almost everyone does not own a horse there. so keep volunteering and helping out with people who have horses it is a great experience to have and learn before deciding to get your own horse. people who said they had passion for horses that flame died when they got older or when they got their own horse and realised that there was alot of resposibility to owning one. and also keep up riding at the stables that is another learning experience for you.

    good luck

  8. you can buy a horse and make a stable.

after that get the license and train you're horse move on a city.

I have a friend with a horse and every day goes for a walk with his white horse in the city..wow!

    good luck!
