I have a peach tree with squirrels. Can I cut off the squirrel bites and still have a healthy peach?

  1. Patt....... I would say the squirrels have beaten you to the fruit. I would not recommend what you are suggesting, yes I know it is a shame, but I am thinking in the lines of "Rabid" animals. Rabies is a horrible decease to contract and of course is fatal. As Rabies is spread in the Saliva I would not touch the fruit,.....Better to be safe than sorry, hey?

  3. I wouldn't. They can carry disease and I wouldn't risk it. Can you keep them off? If you could remove any branches from other trees that they can jump from and put up a barrier around the trunk they can't climb past maybe you can make the tree squirrel free.
