  1. Take a  bic pen and scotch tape, loop the tape into a circle sticky side out, place on end of pen and touch to the penny and pull out. As a safety measure disconnect the battery first but you lose your radio buttons.

  2. Look at the fuse box see which fuse it is and take out the fuse remove the penny then put the fuse back in.

  3. Disconnect the battery first! Or remove the fuse for the outlet.

  4. remove the fuse to the outlet or just unhook the battery

  5. disconnect the battery

  6. You must disconnect the negative ( black wire) terminal of your battery to kill the electricity.

The bottom of the power outlet is the positive charge, the sides of the power outlet are the negative charge. Whenever you touch the two at the same time, you complete the circuit and sparks will fly and you run the risk of shorting out other electrical items on the same circuit, like turn signals, or dash lights, etc.

After you get the penny out, reconnect the negative terminal of the battery and you will have to reset your clock, stereo, etc.

  7.   To make sure you do not damage your car or yourself.

Take the fuse out for the power outlets in your car. If it is unclear on which fuse this is then disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable. (disconnecting the negative battery cable is the safest to remove)

Remove your penny then reconnect the negative battery cable. Don't be surprised if the cable sparks when you hook it back up. There are items in a car that never power down. This is normal.

Next you will need to reprogram your radio, clock, etc.
