  1. What country are you from? That matters quite a bit. I don't think a permanent resident cardholder can get a US Passport, you have to go through the process to get citizenship. If you were a US citizen, then 30 days. The fine for overstaying your visa is $100 a day.

  2. It doesn't matter that you're a permanent resident of the USA.

Only your own citizenship matters. If you're a South Korean citizen you do not need a visa to go home.

I assume you want to go to South Korea but keep in mind there are two Koreas which are very different from each other.

Read this for information on how to get a visa to South Korea.

The type of visa you get determines how long you may stay there.

  3. you can only get a visa from the country of which you are a citizen off

(in the us it is by either being a naturalized citizen, or a citizen)

since you are neither you can go to their web site and ask for permission to visit.

If you are a citizen of korea you shouln't need a visa, but will need one for entering the usa again

  4. Are you a Korean citizen? If so then you won't need a visa.  If not, then you'd have to apply for a visa at the Korean consulate office or embassy.

    A) As of April 1, 1998, there is a $45 visa-processing fee for U.S. Citizens except for type-A visa applicants. Citizens of Japan, Thailand, the Republic of China, the Philippines (for stay in Korea under 59 days), the United Kingdom (for stay in Korea under 6 months), Sweden, Spain, and Italy do not need to pay a visa-processing fee.

Citizens of all other countries must pay a $30 visa-processing fee for a single entry visa.

    B) If you plan to stay in Korea for more than 90 days, you must obtain a proper long-term visa.

    C) A U.S. citizen does not require a visa for a stay up to 30 days for tour, provided that he/she has proof of transportation out of the country and sufficient funds for the stay.
