I have a permit question

ive had a permit when i was 15 thru 16 (thru july '07). well its august '08 now...i turned 17 in may. can i take my written and driving tests without my permit? or do i have to renew the permit and wait the long months before i can take my test(s).? thanks

You can get a new permit and I'm pretty sure they'll let you take the test without having to wait those long boring 6 months all over again. Also depends on where you live, different places have different laws.
