I have a phobia of oil rigs/pumping stations. They scare me to death. i dont know what it is about them, i cant even look at one. anyone know anything i could do to cure this phobia?

  1. You need to discover why it is they scare you?  Do you associate them with something else?  When I was very young, I was terrified of those huge power lines and I had to go by one everyday on the way to school.  I would cross the road to just to avoid it.  Of course, later I realized that I was terrified of them because when I was only six my parents let me watch a very frightening show about some monster that got it's power from power lines.  

    I also used to have a fear of flying that developed after something traumatic happened to me.  But I went to a therapist and worked it out and now I fly internationally.  Something I never thought I would be able to do.

    Do yourself a favor and see a therapist, hopefully someone who specializes in phobias.  This can be totally overcome.

  2. Stop and think why you are afraid. You have believed what people with no sense are telling you. You are probably smart enough to realize that your fear is irrational and generated by others.

  3. it vdepends on how bad is the phobia and what about it that scares u.
