  1. Yes, Dwight D. Eisenhower (Ike) was President from 1953 to 1961. The 5 stars no doubt relate to his status as the General commanding the Allied Forces in their defeat of n**i Germany. He was a lion in war and a lamb in peacetime - the placid days of "Leave it to Beaver" and "Father knows best." The bungalow with the white picket fence. A contented time when a nation didn't mind that their President, having paid his dues, could concentrate upon lowering his golf handicap.
