next to my tomato plants. It looked interesting, so I let it grow. It's a plant that is about 3 feet tall with big leaves that has a fuzzy feel to them. The main stalk is straight, and the plant is now producing yellow blooms, which have given way to some kind of roundish seed pod/fruit/vegetable?? At first I thought maybe it was some kind of variety of okra, but I see now that it's not. Can any of you plant/garden experts give me a clue what it could be?

    Thanks!

  2. Jerusalem Sage?  We really need a picture.  Jerusalem sage has leaves that look like regular sage and a flower that comes out of the center.  The flower looks very unusual.

  3. Sounds like a stray tomato seedling to me!  Tomato stems are hairy and the leaves smell nicely.

Ironically, I bought five penstemons from ACE hardware a few weeks ago and three of the pots now have stray tomatoes growing next to th flowers.  They must have used compost to help amend the soil.

  4. nope - got a picture of it? maybe an eggplant?
