I have a pregnant pit who is do anyday now. i dont know what to buy for her to nest. i was gonna get a pet bed

but i heard that once she gives birth she has to stay on that bed for a long time and its gonna smell really bad. is that true? i was also told her puppies gonna have alot of fleas? but she doesnt have any. can someone tell me what to buy and how to prevent the smell and flea and whatever else i neeed to know. or how to change the beds after birth of the puppies please help.

If mom doesn't have fleas, and there are no fleas in the environment, there's no reason for the pups to have fleas.

An easy whelping box is one of those plastic kiddie pools. That way mom can get in and out easily but the pups can't climb out (until they get bigger). You can get some old towels and sheets at Goodwill to put in. And put some newspaper down. Change the newspaper daily and wash the sheets and towels as they get soiled.

Get a nice box, fill it up with shredded newspapers, and put in an old blanket. Make sure you have access to vet care in the slightest hint of an emergency.
