  1. practice pocket pool. It will give you a lot of experience with straight shots.

  2. it's your nerves, or maybe you are overthinking the shot. You are probably worrying to much where the cue ball is going to end up instead of making the shot. Just go for making the shot for now, If you are as good as you say at cutting, then no matter where the cue ends up, you will probably have a cut shot.

  3. it may be you are putting to much english on the ball without knowing it

  4. keep your head straight!!!!!!

  5. One suggestion is to put the cue ball somewhere on the table sideways and hit the ball as straight as you can and leave the cue stick stable -- if you hit the ball straight the ball should come back and hit the cue stick right in the center.  Start from a close position and move the cue ball further and further away as you get better at it.  Eventually hit the cue ball longways instead of sideways.  Eventually, your straight shot(s) will be better!

  6. well that depends how you hold your stick! if you hold it between you front to fingers then it will be lopsided. you should make a circle around the part you hold with your pointer and thumb and then lean it against the pool stick. sorry i know it is confusing but i dont know how to explain it. sorry

  7. Straight shots are just as hard for me as you mentioned....the "key" is to just not to overhit it....line up your balls and always make sure that you are aiming into the center of the pocket....by center I mean the center of the "mouth" that you see.......this applies on cuts as well.....always look at the pocket and pick out the center of the "mouth" and not necessarily the center of the pocket and do not hit it too hard........set up all 15 balls and hit them into the corner pockets..straight on and do it until you can do 10 without missing consistently.......GOOD LUCK ON THE TOUR!!

  8. I Used to hav tht problem too.

but its a lot better now...mostly cause of practice n focus...

  9. i ususally see guys hit straight in shots too hard---and when you hit too hard -the chance of you twisting your wrist a little or making any error on where the tip hits the cue is magnafied a thousand times--try hittin the shot easier --focus on where the tip is hitting the cue---if you are using left or right english---don,t forget to compensate for it with a little bit of angle!!!!---lots o luck to ya---
