Question:

I have a problem using the editing program Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 with the capture function for my camera HV20?

When capturing the video from my camera (Canon HV20) the program separates distinct sequences or scenes as separates files. Unfortunately the last 2-3 frames of each sequence belong to the following sequence. Is there a way to avoid this problem or to make the program to capture continuously without separating the video in sequences.

  1. I don't know about Vegas since I don't use it, but I recommend using HDVSplit for capturing. It's free and believe it or not, is less than 500KB in size. It allows you to capture as a whole or you can setup options to have it split the scenes. After having a horrible experience capturing with Premiere Pro (the program froze and the file wasn't saved, not to mention no live preview), HDVSplit might possibly be one of the best programs I have ever used, in terms of size-to-functionality ratio. Period. Hey I don't know if you've been on HV20.com, but if not, it's a great site with tons of info. Look for me on the forums as lotrfan. Oh and if you ever need a boom pole, I am selling cheap painter's pole adapters on eBay or you can contact me on the forums about it as well.

    Hope this helps!
