I have a problem with council owned trees they are so high they block my light?

The council will not trim them or remove them any help will gratefully be received

  1. The council has little money and don't want to spend it on tree pruning.But loss of light is something covered by law.If your persistant,than the council will realise they can't shake you off and will cut the trees.If you want immeadiate action then a letter to the council giving them 28 days to reply stating that if the trees remain unpruned,then you will take out a county court petition against the council.They will soon respond.You can't blame the council as they get 100s of these requests and they use up money,but the law is on your side


  2. You could petition the city council.  Take them to court.  It is a safety issue.

  3. You do not say why they wont cut them down? if they have a tree protection order on them there may be limits to how much they can cut them. If that is the case I would ask them again to trim them and if they dont ask to speak to their superior - every person that doesnt help ask to speak to their superior. If the trees do have a tpo on them do not do anything to them as you can be charged with criminal damage. however if they dont i would be tempted to cut them down a bit myself - its not like they are going to notice
