  1. You could try a water trap or two.

We had an infestation last summer (a bad one in our area).  We put a small bowl of water on the landing to which we added a couple of drops of washing up liquid to break the surface tension.  When we went to bed at night we left a small table lamp standing beside it with the shade over the water.

We were catching 20+ fleas a night at one time - that's 20 less breeding!

Keep vacuuming several times a day if necessary!  If you have a Dyson with a transparent collecting box, you will see the little varmints jumping up and down in there!  Into the wheelie with some flea powder!

Keep your cat indoors for a few weeks if possible; flea infestations are at their worst in the summer months so it will just catch more when it goes out to play.

Give it a flea collar when you aren't using Frontline, but don't use the two together - it could be too much for the cat.

  2. i no its sounds mean but the only way for my sister was to get rid of the cat, it seemed like every week she was fleaing the animal, after she did that she got the couincil in to exterminate her house and that solved the problem, she now has a dog and doesnt suffer the same problems, cats are flea ridden animals. hope this helps

  3. frontline spot on from the vets and if the cat has fleas it will have worms get wormer from vets call your local council about them coming out to de flea  then remember to use spot on every 12 weeks cats do get fleas but they are lovly animals

  4. keep doing all that

  5. You should also wash your carpets and upholstery on a regular basis. Once they are dry spray them with a good household flea spray Don't forget to spray your beds and everywhere the cat goes. Try the Frontline spray on the cat as opposed to the other methods of using it. Flea collars are a waste of money, they simply dont work and can cause skins problems on the cat. It may not even be the cat that is infesting the place, they could be coming from a neighbours or their pets. Have you checked for mice or similar? Fleas are difficult little gits to get rid of but if you follow a thorough routine you'll get there sooner than you think. Once you have got rid of them keep using the household spray regularily as it will help stop re-infestation.

  6. You need to keep bombing your place. And keep the front line on your cat. And the way to tell if they are gone, take a bowl of water and put a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid in it. Set it on the floor, it attracts the fleas for some reason, this will kill them also, and you can keep watch to see if the bombing is working.

  7. Oh it is hard circle to break - I've had this problem too.

To be honest the best thing is to call in the pest control people and have them fumigate your place. Make sure you put the cat out! I've found that those spray bomb things are expensive and pretty useless.

In the meantime, regularly vacuum (like every day), and keep the cat up to date with the frontline. The problem is that before the fleas have hatched, nothing will kill them - only once they're out can you get the little buggers.  It's things like movement and heat that make them hatch, but be aware the eggs can lay dormant for six months.... joy!
