I have a problem with installing programs?

Question

Everytime i want to install something it says there is another install going on and i have to cancel it if i want to install a new program. But there isn't an installation actually happening please help

I had this happen to me once before, but I had my cell phone USB connected to the computer to charge it and Windows prompted me to install new hardware (I was only charging my phone, I didnt want to install it).  If I closed the window would re-open it, so I moved it off the screen (where I couldnt see it, still open though).  When I would go to install anything, it said you alrady have a install in process.  I realized I had my new hardware window open; which counts as an isntall, so I closed the window and I could install again.  Maybe this is whats going on with you.

If not, then restart the computer.

Make sure you have the latest Windows Installer (I think its 3.1 and make sure you have SP2).
