  1. edit the registry if the tools option is nowhere to be seen, otherwise, dont edit anything in the registry. if you're still able to see the folder options, it means there's no problem and there's no need to edit the registry.

    go to tools>folder options>view

check show hidden files and folders. if you're files are nowhere to be seen, it may be possible that it's not there or was deleted previously.

even if a folder is hidden it may be possible that it be deleted especially when you use ctrl+A in editing or removing files.

try searching for that file or folder if you still remember the name of that file or folder.

    try:

    start>search>all files and folders.

    then change configuration of search.

    choose more advanced options

then check the: search hidden files and folders

    (im using windows xp.)

    hope that helped. goodluck!

  2. this is all because there is a virus in ur computer.....it does not allow us to view hidden files in our system................the best thing to do is use a software like ACDsee which is a windows browser through which you can access hidden files by clicking show hidden files in the view menu in the software........copy them to any other source....and then change it to normal file....otherwise if u want to get rid of the virus completely u can format ur pc....or there is anorther way to access hidden files but it is at your own risk .........

Click Start > Click Run > Type regedit > press Enter

Before anything please make a backup of your registry, just in case something gets messed up. Click File > Click Export > Enter a name > Click Save.

Now Click HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Click Software > Click Microsoft > Click Windows > Click CurrentVersion > Click Explorer > Click Advanced

On the right hand pane you will see a value called "Hidden". Double click that change "Value Data" to 1.

    Now close the Registry Editor.

  3. You can do this via the registry. But please be careful.

You should be all set!
