I have 4 outlets in my house that doesn't work. They are all on the same wall/ or the same wiring. I have checked it a bunch of time with a meter. It says that it has power, but just not enought. It reads as 10-60 volts. And I need it to be 120 volts. I know that there in a open hot in the wiring within the walls but i dont know where it is, is there anyone who can try to help me on fixing this problem? or and Easir way? THANKS!

  1. Are you sure you are making good contact with your meter probe?  It is difficult to get the probe into the outlet and get a good reading.  First check the bathrooms for a GFCI outlet and make sure they aren't tripped.  Push the Test then the Reset buttons on all of them and see if that fixes the problem.  Next I would remove each outlet and check the connections to make sure they are tight.  If someone has used the stab in connections on the back of the outlet, remove the wire and reattach it under the screws.  If all four outlets have good connections look at the outlets in an adjacent room to see if any of them have a bad connection that leads to those four.  After that, you would move to the circuit breaker box and check the connection on the breaker.  If you feel uncomfortable with any of this, please hire an electrician.
