I have a problem with my english, can someone help me?

sioux pronounce Sue

You don't hear the i or the x.

Iroquois pronounce ear-uh-kwah

You don't hear the i or s.

A)  sioux is pronounced like "sue".  You certainly don't hear the x.

B)  Iroquois is pronounced "ear-o-koy", accent on the first syllable.  The s and more or less the u are silent.

Both of these are more or less French.  Someone once said that French is the only language where you can have a vowel followed by a string of consonants of any length and pronounce it "uh".  Whenever you have a word derived from the French, there will likely be a lot of silent letters.

I know english is a difficult language, but just hang in there and you'll do fine!
