  1. Had the same problem with my sons bike (also a Scott as it happens but it would be the same whatever bike).  Once you have contaminated the brake disc you have to replace the pads.  You also need to clean the disc thoroughly with brake cleaner.  You can use car brake cleaner which is much cheaper and does the job just as well.

Your brakes wont work properly if you don't, good luck.

  2. Use a good bio-degradable de-greaser and clean the disc and the pads (lemon juice works well too!). Put some copper grease on the back of the pads before putting them back in and that'll stop the squealing noise. If the brakes still feel a bit down on power after that, rub the pads with a file, or coarse sandpaper. The pads may have soaked in too much oil so may need replacing.

I know how frustrating it is, I hate squealing brakes and never let anyone work on my bike except me!

  3. Washing with water wont get oil off anything.   You need soapy stuff.  After soaping the pads and rotor, rinse well and then find a level, safe spot.  Ride hard and hit the brakes hard several times until any squeaking stops.

  4. It matters not how much you clean the disc it is in the pads, you should change the pads, but if they are functioning ok ,i would stand the squeaking ,less expense.
