I have a problem with some neighbours, they moved in at the start of 2007, we had 11 years of relative peace and quiet before that, and they seem to have a penchant for throwing hard objects such as rocks and stones over our fence, their garden is higher than ours and twice they have broken car windows, once was on a scrap car I had in my drive so I didn't bother about that too much, but they have just done the windscreen of my classic car of which the glass is no longer in production! They have been constantly throwing objects over the fence the whole time ranging from soft toys to rocks and garden ornaments, we have never needled them, the attacks are completely unprovoked and I'm getting totally fed up with it, anybody got some legal, practical advice? I can come up with the illegal and nasty by myself no problem. but we can't do that!

  1. i would suggest to report it to your council and start from there...

  2. Call the Police

  3. i would set up a hidden camera, and catch them in the act. you would get a little farther with that than just complaining to the police with no proof. good luck neighbor problems are nasty.

  4. Talk to them first, then get the law involved if they don't respond to your request. The last thing you want to do is start a war with a neighbor if it's avoidable. Talk first. They will hopefully realize they are in the wrong. Good luck.

  5. I know that you are both home owners, but apparently the council can do things about nuiscance neighbours.  They will ask you to keep a diary of everything that goes on and if possible photographic evidence backed up by police complaint reports.  Stick with it.  I am sorry you are having such problems.

Another source of help might be the Citizens Advice Bureau who will give legal advice for free.  I swear by them!

  6. if you call the police and the council and tell them you feel threatened that they will do something worse if they find out you have reported them ... they will be moved

try setting up some temporary cameras in your room looking outside for hard evidence
