I have a python hes about 1'1/2 i got 40 gal breeder critter cage, wanna get my man one can they live together

I WANT TO GET HIM HIS OWN FOR HIS BDAY. WILL THE CAGE BE BIG ENOUGH FOR THEM?

  1. Snakes are solitary creatures, and only come together for mating. They might end up killing each other, so you'd have to get a separate cage.


  2. what kind of python is it??  if its a ball python it sould be ok to house two together as long as they are about the same size...i've kept two ball pythons together for about 2 years now...they have been fine with it, however, they will eventually need a bigger tank...within about a year they will need a bigger tank.

  3. Don't keep them together. Bad idea. One will eventually kill and eat the other.

  4. I have had two balls at once in my forty gallon tank.  They thrived very well.  As with all snakes i recommend that they be close in size.  You could have problems if one is extremely small.  If they are fed regularly, they will get along fine.  A warning though...If you feed live food separate them when feeding.  Because they roll up into a tight ball when they grab their food they could potentially hurt or kill each other if they get entwined while constricting their food.  I have seen it happen.
