  1. If you know her registered name, there are several websites you can go to in order to find your horse's pedigree. If you are able to contact the lady you bought her from, ask when and where the auction was, if she knows. There is a chance that they could find the previous owner(s) if they are in the records.

  2. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/

Type in her registred or show name and see if you can find her.  She may or may not be in there.  Well bred and even average bred QH's are extremely typey.  Experienced QH people would be able to look at your mare or a few good photos of her and tell the major blood line in her.  Halter Horse lines usually have small well defined head's (A Mark of Impressive blood), Zippo pleasure lines move like no other qh's move, text book trots, Lima/ cow lines are short and compact but well-balanced for quick movements.  Find someone in your area that does QH's and have them take a look at your mare, they'll help you get started.  Good Luck.

  4. Do you know her registered name?  If you do, then you can look her up at www.aqhaonline.com.

If you don't know her name, then check her upper and lower lip for tattoo numbers, which might give you an idea as to her identity if you call AQHA, since all identifiying marks (including tattoos) must be recorded on her papers.

If you can't find out her registered name, nor can you find any special marks or brands, then you may not be able to find out anything about her.

But, remember, that pedigree is just a piece of paper, and should never lessen the pleasure you receive from riding and owning her.  You can't ride papers, lol.

Good luck!  If you need any help, feel free to email me :-)
