  1. A lot of people slam Monster for having overpriced cables and will say that if a cable is digital like HDMI, optical or coax that since the signal is either there or not that a cheap cable will be no different than a 100$ monster cable.

In some cases that is entirely correct, but if you are planning to watch Blu-Ray movies then some cheaper cables might not have the bandwidth needed for the best performance. Monster replaces any defective cable with a lifetime garantee and if a newer technology comes out that is too bandwidth demanding for your current cable they will upgrade free of charge to a cable that will do the job.

If you are watching 720p/1080i then a midrange 30$-50$ HDMI should do the job. If you are watching Blu-Ray in 1080p then you might want to invest in a good Monster HDMI cable.

  2. there are minor differences in quality and I do mean minor..

    but the audioquest hdmi x

model is a great bang for the buck under 100 bucks per meter 119 for 2m and it has a bit of silver and silver is the second best conductor,,

    so doesn't the ps3 come with blu-ray..

get this enjoy movies too and your laughing...

  3. Most hdmi cables are the same quality. The price is pretty much for lenght to be honest. Except for monster. Monster works with the creater of HDMI. Their cables are based on speed. The higher cable the faster your signal will run. monster also has a lifetime warrunty on their cables. And the 1000 series has a guaruntee that if a cable comes out that replaces that one they will give you that cable free.

  4. There are a few bad cables, but for the most part, a decent budget cable produces identical results as a $$$ retail cable.

My twelve foot cable came from BlueJeans. They use Belden wires which tend to be made for studios. It cost me under $40..

I have also bought some cheaper, shorter runs from MonoPrice to feed a HDMI switch. These were in the $12/$15 range.
