I have a question about IUD removal?

I had my IUD removed last September (Mirena.) And I have been trying ot conceive for the whole year and no luck. My period is okay some months and then its weird. I started my period on the 15th of Aug. and my husband have been having doing the BD regulary. Not every night but enough where it should be effective. But anyway..I started spotting today and I know its way to early for implantation bleeding so I guess its my period trying to come on again. The docter told me I should have no problem conceiving after I had it removed and when they took it out it also had irritated my cervix. I'm starting to think an IUD is a bunch of bull especially on what they tell you the side effects are. Has anyone else had trouble??? How long did it take your periods to get back right and to conceive?

  1. I had the copper IUD and had no issues getting mine removed since there is no hormones like the Mirena.  My sister was going to get the Mirena but decided against it because of all the side effects the Dr told her about.  Some sites say a year is typical for conceiving after removal.  But typically within a few months your fertility should return to normal.  I would start charting your BBT and CM and get the book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility.  It has helped several people get pregnant quicker and determine when you ovulate.

About 8 out of 10 women who want to become pregnant will become pregnant some time in the first year after Mirena is removed.

  2. im n the same EXACT boat...i had mine removed in march and didnt get a normal period till june......then i had the next around the same date in july which was the 26th..then NOTHING for august...me and my hubby do the BD on a regular basis and just cant seem to have any luck.....its torture!

  3. I'm so sorry your going through this, I had a couple people tell me the same thing about the mirena, so I was sure to NOT get it. I can't really help much other than I just got my copper iud out and just got a + hpt this morning, so I don't think it's the iud itself. It is either the hormones, or the person putting it in/taking it out<---- i've heard this is actually the biggest factor.  I wish you luck, and maybe try going to another doc to say what they suggest??
