Do foreigners dominate the population in foreigners-only places and bars?

In those places where only foreigners are welcomed... are there any koreans at all?(Guys Girls?)

I'm Korean and I'm curious ... is it really that easy for foreigners to pick up girls in those places and look down upon Korea in those places?

What are the atmosphere like? foreigners hunting for western favoring korean s***s? or is it all friendley with everyone with few people like that or... what is it like

  1. I used to live in Seoul. I just came to states couple of months ago.  I'm 23 years old and lived kind of normal life in Korea. The happens around military bases are not normal. When I went to Itaewon for the first time I thought there is crazy. Actually there are many crazy people. Going to Itaewon club is not normal in Korea. Nobody wants to go to club around military bases. Most of club in Korea is better than club around military bases. Even if the club around military bases are bad girls still go to club around the bases. I think the most of all girls in Itaewon want to meet foreigners. Maybe it will be esay to find a girl around there. but don't ever think it's all around Korea. you can make big mistake. There is always bad side. Some people in states are addicts, strippers and hoes. If you go to around bases then you can see the bad side of Korea. I used to work in dongducheon base as a security guard. There was the worst place I ever been. If you live normal life in Korea then you will never see it.

  2. Believe it or not, I spent two years in a town called T3dongDuChon(sounds like Dong-Du-Chon) just about 30 miles north of Itaewon.  I only spent a total of 4 nights in Itaewon in the 2 years I was over there and I think you are a bit misinformed.  In "Those Places", yes there are Koreans There are usually Korean Men in the DJ booth, and young ladies working the floor asking the G.I.s to buy them a drink.

Before I explain anything else to you I want you to understand something.  When I was there, women were a second class citizen in that society, and sadly many of the poorer families in that part of the world would sell their daughters into bondage to pay for their son's college tuition.  It's been almost 20 years since I was stationed over there and I have had opportunity to meet some younger exchange students when I was in college who were young ladies.  I learned that society has changed over there with respect to women being second-class citizens.  Things have definitely changed.

In the Foreigner only district, also known as the "Ville", it was very easy to pick up a young lady.  It was only a question of knowing which one you wanted and having the cash.  They were prostitutes, it was their profession.  I don't remember any of my Army buddies looking down on any of those young ladies.  In fact we were quite thankful for their services.  Here we all were, a half a world away from home and in need of their services.  I had 4 different frequent young ladies who I paid for s*x while I was there.  I never thought badly of them for their circumstance and I was actually quite fond of all of them.

Korea is a very beautiful country and it is home to many Buddhist Shrines and Temples which are so Timeless and historic that a visiting foreigner cannot help but appreciate the spirituality and culture of the region.  Also the regular people that I met there were very polite and the Korean Soldiers that I had the honor of serving with were some of the finest and most courteous gentlemen I have ever known in my life.  The fact is, while I was there those girls you are referring to as s***s were a very important part of our lives.  We needed them.  Most of the American Guys that I knew that were married to Korean Women did not meet their wives in the "Ville".

Also I met my American wife over there and we were married at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul and consequently we now both have dual citizenship: American and Korean.

I would also like to tell you that there were also clubs and bars restaurants over there that were exclusive.  Foreigners were not allowed without an invite and escort by a local city or otherwise government official.

I hope I gave you some enlightenment.  If some Caucasian Guy fed you a line and led you to believe such things about "Those Places", he was in no way representative of the majority of the rest of us.

Finally I have to tell you that I ate some of the best food I have ever tasted in my life while I was there.  I ate real sushi, I ate the freshest noodles, seafood and exotic fruit that you simply cannot get in America.  I really loved it.  If I could find a way to return to live there for the rest of my days I would, but not for those girls.  I'd go back just for that food.

    Good luck
