I wanna know if anyone know's any Lizards that don't need light and or heat.

  1. You can keep a leopard gecko in a warm part of your house with no lights, as it's nocturnal. That's your best bet.

  2. Okay, never catch a lizard from the wild. Once they have had a taste at freedom theres no going back. Would you liked to be able to live freely and then in a SNAP your in a cramped cage??? Okay, i agree lizards are AWESOME, LIKE THE COOLEST PET EVER. Now there is no lizard that needs  nothing. I live on Maui and there are Jackson Chameleons, Anoles, and Geckos EVERYWHERE. I look at them. Now I would get a gecko or something. You want a herp that will stay the same size, STAY AWAY FROM TURTLES!!! They may look cute as babies but when there a foot long and really heavy, you regret it. You have to buy a 300$$ tank when there huge and... such a mistake. I have 2 Red Ears and i Love them!!! But there huge! Dont get me wrong there great. Well anyway whatever lizard you get you need a heatpad and light.

  3. no DO NOT catch or buy wild animals because they simply arent meant to be pets buy something thats captive bred like a leopard gecko or a crested gecko they are better adjusted to living in an enclosure and can take handling better than the ones you find around your house

  4. Hello; first off, it really isn't a good idea to catch a wild lizard and keep it as a pet. Most of them are very nervous, prone to biting, often will refuse food, and many have parasites. It is much cheaper in the long run to buy a captive bred animal and save yourself the vet bills. :)

Second; have you considered a Crested Gecko or a Gargoyle Gecko? Both are small, are nocturnal so they don't need UV lighting, low maintenance, docile, do quite well with handling, and make good starter lizards. While they do need a temperature gradient as do all cold blooded animals; they are considered 'cool' weather Geckos and will actually get quite stressed when kept in temperatures above 83-85 degrees. They really don't need much more heat than a medium to low wattage heat bulb, depending on where you live. That shouldn't have much of an impact on your Hydro bill. :)

Here are care sheets on both species, in case you are interested:

I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions at all on the subject; please feel free to message me and I will be more than happy to assist you. :)

Good luck on your lizard search!

  5. I have a 4 foot long iguana that i 10 years old. Lizards are the greatest pet ever! Yes they ALL require a heatlamp and heatpad, and the small ones live in tanks (easier to keep warm). Also, depending on where you get it, it may or may not be friendly. Mine is potty trained, that shows how smart they are. My dad has allergies to fur also, and lizards aren't that expensive. If I were you I would get a vegetarian one, because otherwise you would have to get it live crickets or frozen mealworms, or whatever. I would also not recomend a bearded dragon, I took care of some for a few weeks and they really smell! I hightly recomend a lizard, just beg your mom for one! And th

  6. dude just go round ur neighborhood n catch one cuz my frend got like 20 that he keeps in a container with holes in his closet

  7. Its is good to want a pet and lizards can make good pets.  However Lizards are cold blooded, and they all are going to need a heat source.  And then you have to consider feeding them.  Might I suggest you go to a local pet store and ask about  fire belly toads.  They are cool to look at and I have found that they are pretty tough.   This way all you have to do is worry about feeding them and that is cheap.  Your local pet shop will probably have crickets galore and they are cheap.    I know that toads are not lizards in fact they are not even reptiles, they are amphibians, but its a start.   GOOD LUCK
