  1. Yes, you phone in everyday (I think it is after 4:00pm but check your notice) When you phone in they will list the "groups" by number. If your number is called, you will go the next morning to the court house that you were appointed to. During that time, you will either get called into a jury group, or you will not. During this time, jeans are fine. If you get called into a group, they will then proceed with some of you getting "interviewed" to see if you are a match for the jury. Such questions are: Are you related to a peace officer, Do you have any predjudice, etc. etc.  If they call select you then you will be given instructions on what is to follow.  If you DONT get called to interview, you are DONE. You do not return and you pick up your Pink or Yellow slip stating that you completed your required duty for this year. You can be summoned again within the year.

Just because it's Thursday night dont think you wont get called in on a Friday. I did. We were all released at about 11:00am however. Bring Reading materials, ipod, crosswords etc. They do have some puzzles and magazines, but bring your own "entertainment" if possible.

  2. i think everyone should do jury duty atleast once.  you'll find it interesting and educational.

the dress code is in your notice, just dress respectably. i think i wore slacks and a button down shirt. only one person wore a tie.

  3. Yes, until your term of jury duty is up, you need to call in almost every day.  Most days you won't be needed but there are those days you will need to go in for jury selection and even then you may not be called on to serve on the jury.  I was on jury duty once and in all, I served on two different juries but I had to call every day except the days they told us not to call.  Now this was 32 years ago and I'm sure it's changed a little in that time but I'm sure you still have to call every day.  It's not a bad deal except I almost fell asleep on one of those juries.  You get to learn the legal process and see how it's really done.  Your vote in the jury is really needed.  If it wasn't for me, they would have given one person way too much money.  I was the one that kept it from happening.  I can't remember the exact amount but I do know that we added 76 cents on the amount because the year was 1976.  You see, it can be a little fun.
