I have a question about TiVo?

When you get TiVo do you have to keep your satellite or cable? Because I have Dish and its not working properly. So I was wondering if I had to keep my dish to get TiVo to work?

Where I live you need cable tv to receive the channels that you want to see on tivo!

I think it should work with anything... maybe contact the info people at Dish and ask.
