I am making sauteed chicken b*****s with a mustard and cream sauce for dinner tonight The receipe calls for dry white wine and all I have is a sweet white wine. Will this work the same or is there something I can do to offset the sweet taste of the wine to make it more dry like or do you think that it won't make that much of a difference in the reciepe.

  1. I don't think it will make much of a difference. If your recipe calls for any honey or other sweetener then you may want to cut back on that a bit. You may also want to add a touch of acid to brighten the flavor. Something like a squeeze of lemon or a teaspoon of red wine vinegar.

I tend not to follow recipes exactly. I'll add a dash of this and a squeeze of that until I like the taste. . .

  2. you could use vermouth if you have it or substitute  chicken or beef broth for the wine.

  3. You don't have to use wine if you don't want to, or don't have it.  You can use water or stock - it won't be as flavorful, but it will still taste good.

  4. Sweet white wine is not really that sweet.  Use it anyway -- might be better!!!
