For high school I'm going to try out for badminton and tennis but I think I have a better chance at badminton cause its easier. But should I try out for tennis too? Tennis is this fall and badminton is in the spring. I play tennis sometimes and I have a badminton net in my backyard.

  1. ok badminton is COMPLETELY different from tennis. i

Id say try out for both. if youre good at tennis then good for you!!

I personally LOVE both sports but in way better at badminton then tennis, but im ok at tennis too.

hope i helped and dont forget to just have fun and pick me as best answer ;) <--(suppose to be a winking smiley lol)

  2. Well, I really suggest you to try out both of them. It is because you will get different feeling and fun in playing both of those games. You will need to run a lot and train your hands hardly in tennis. But you will get power control in badminton.

But seeing that you have a badminton net in your backyard, it seems that will really helpful for you. Just get someone to play with you.

    Good luck!!!!

  3. Hey they're in different seasons so why not try out for both? =)

I really like tennis but it requires a lot of arm strength and coordination so if you're okay with that then you'll do fine at tennis. It can take some running around but if you're good then it's not that bad...in my opinion.

As for badminton, it is definitely NOT easier than tennis. Competitive badminton requires a lot more running around then tennis, is more exhausting (well, both are, but badminton moreso), and requires more overall fitness I would say. It also requires greater forearm strength which is something you don't really get except by playing badminton. Also, while playing backyard badminton is good for learning basic badminton skills, it is nothing like competitive badminton, which is a lot faster than tennis and requires pretty good reflexes. (Something that will come with practice.) If you want to see what badminton is really like then try watching some of the Olympic badminton matches. Those people are INSANE.

All that being said, I prefer badminton. I think it requires a lot more skill and athleticism than tennis, though I love playing tennis too. Also keep in mind that if you're looking for scholarships then you're probably not gonna get much for badminton, though it is a NCAA women's sport now. On the other hand, it's really hard to get tennis scholarships as well, because so many people play tennis.

One final thing, you tend to sweat a lot more during badminton than tennis (my observation), so if that's something that bothers you then you might want to stay away from badminton. (Though I don't know how serious it is at your school. If it isn't super-ultra competitive then it might be that bad.)

Both sports are great if you just want to get some exercise and have fun.

Well, good luck, I hope you get into both! =)

  4. for me i can say you also try both badminton and tennis.

yes  i can say badminton is easier then tennis but its cool to try many things right now.

    just enjoy!!!!!!!!!

  5. Yes, the more sports you do the better it is.  You will be happier and healthier.  Geez, I sound like a honey nut cheerios comercial.

  6. I would say you should try out for both.  You will never know which you like better if you don't give them both a chance!
