Question:

I have a question about brakes???

OK, if brake pads wear down evenly on brakes that were replaced in March, is it possible the brakes could've been defective? If not, what could be done to stop this from happening again? These brakes should've lasted 30,000 miles and didn't.

No wisecracks about women drivers, please!!!

  1. Is it possible you're riding with your left foot on the brake pedal? It doesn't take much pressure on the pedal to wear out your brake pads. If this is not the case, then it's possible that whoever did the brake job didn't service the calipers properly. They need to be cleaned and lubed so that the brake pads fully retract away from the rotor when the brakes are not being used.

  2. well they could of be defective or if you slam on the breaks alot you can wear the break lining down quickly. hope i helped:")

  3. Not sure I know what you mean by "wear down evenly". That's what they are supposed to do.  Do you mean they had excessive wear? What prompted you to check the pads? Noise? Performance? My first thought is that if they are worn out in four months it's either very poor quality pads or driver technique. As others said your warranty should cover you, but I don't think I would want to have the same place install them. And, no, none of my answer is directed at your s*x.

  4. I assume you have a warranty at the shop that did the brakes. Did they turn the rotors at that time? Did you decline any other work at that time? How many miles did you get out of the brake pads? Your question needs way more info.

  5. they dont wear even first ok the right side will wear faster....and the inside pad will wear out first.... a lot of it is depending on the driver and how hard they brake and where they drive city or highway,, some pads dont last that long ... some might get 60,000 out of them some... no one can tell you how long they will last they can tell you how long they should but they cant know how one drives.... and im not saying you drive bad or brake hard.. it could have been a cheap pad .. a shops brand pad or just they way you brake.... and really you can do brakes your self its not hard to my wife does hers.... once you know how to do it and what to look for you can do any car and that will save you big money one day.... changing brake pads is about as easy as changing a flat... you can see how its done here and find a few other things that you can do yourself and save you money... and knowing is smarter even if you dont do it... it will keep people from trying to get over you

  6. Could be a number of things.

    1. Defective pads.

    2. Rotors weren't turned.

    3. The calipers are sticking and causing the pads to drag.

    4. Excessively hard braking. (not a crack on women drivers)

    5. Driving consists of mostly stop and go. Such as in a city.

Let's be fair here, folks. You can say what you want about women drivers, but it has been my experience as a law enforcement officer that stupidity does not favor one s*x over the other. I have seen just as many men that should have never been allowed behind the wheel.
