  1. If I can walk around with a sheath knife and not be bothered by cops then you are definitely fine. Unless you go to like California or something. Of course I live in South Carolina though....

  2. That would depend on where you live.  I've seen plenty of people with knives on their belts in public.  I would advise against walking into a bank with it though. ;)

  3. In most of America a blade of less than 4" and in some places 3.5" is considered a common pocket knife and is legal to carry in your pocket

If the knife is larger then most of those places allow for it to be carried openly on the belt

But knife laws are not as well defined or as strictly enforces as gun laws for the most part

In general if you are not committing any other crime or cause any other unwanted attention to yourself you will not be harassed by good cops

But there are also a lot of cops that just like to see how their badges work

In general an 18 year old acting responsibly with a small pocket knife should not have any problems

If you are do not make any comments about the officer's daughter's promiscuity issues

I know from experience it will not go well for you

  4. I was a passenger in a wreck when I was 16. When they strapped me to the gurney the officer noticed that I had dropped my six inch blade folding knife and he slid it back into my pocket. Just don't be an idiot.

  5. Well, that depends on where you are.  In the U.S. it is not illegal to carry single edged knives in public.  Businesses, educational institutions and government agencies can ban carrying knives into their buildings, but the ban must be posted in easy to see places outside the building.  If it is not posted as being banned, you can carry knives into buildings as well.

It's best to keep the knife closed and out of sight though.  Don't get it out and play with it as you might freak some people out.

  6. im 14 years old and i carry a 6 inch folding knife, and i've been stoped by the cops (walking up and down the street) and never has a cop said anything to me about it, the law around here is as long as it folds its ok. just dont be showing it off and acting stupid with it.

  7. not in va

  8. Your A-OK.*

  9. You should be alright. Most of the time as long as the blade isnt over 3.5 inches you can lawfully carry it in your pocket and out of sight. I grew up on a farm and still live in the sticks. I have a knife on me 95% of the time. Its jsut a handy tool to have.

  10. "That's not a knife, this is a knife"
