I have a question about foster care?

I am looking into getting into foster care. I am not sure what all you need to do before you can begin doing foster care. I live in Pa. So if anyone knows anything about foster care in pa, like how to get into it. I also want to know who does do foster care and if they like doing it. Thanks

Call up your local child protection services office. They should be able to point you in the right direction.

i looked into it here where i live and you have to go to parenting classes. and other classes, they have to run a background check on you first to make sure you have no felonies and such against you and this will determine if you are eligible to go through their training. we passed all that but then my health got bad and we didn't go through with the classes. we have 3 of our own and they loved the idea as well. it takes around 3 months to complete everything. good luck and best wishes.

You need to locate a foster parent in your area that you can ask some personal questions to... My aunt is a foster mother and at first every time a child was adopted or sent back home she was crushed... It was very hard on her. It is still hard on her but after so many years it is easier and she has found a way to love these children and let them go when before she loved them but instinctively wanted to keep them with her..Like a mother.. Anyway I applaud you for what you are doing. I cannot do it even though we have been asked to foster I do not think I am strong enough. So my whole post was just to suggest with talk with someone older who can advise you.

Call your local Health and welfare.  They have classes and packets that tell you all the steps you need.

usually this all starts with a background check and a meeting.  Definately go to the class.  It gives you all the info and has foster parents who can answer your questions.
