Hello I recently had to give up my best friend away because our 1yr old is allergic. She was a female chihuahua. I met a lady online through craigslist that was looking for a dog. We talked for weeks and what not and then I gave her my dog with the promise that she would send photos and updates on how she was doing. Well it has been a month and I have heard nothing. She ignores my emails and calls and now I feel EXTREME guilt and wonder if she even has the dog or if she fed it to some pitt bull (as happens a lot when you give animals away for free) Why won't she just email me a photo to let me know my dog is ok.

What can I do?????

  1. you sound like a very ignorant person "fed it to some pitt bull"

well first off its spelled Pit Bull and they dont go around eating other dogs, nor have i heard of people that give pets away free feed them to Pit Bulls i mean seriously you make no sense.

its her dog now, if she doesnt want to send pics then she doesnt have to.

i know what bait dogs are,  fighters usually use other Pit Bulls as bait dogs. i grew up around dog fighting i know alot about it , so therefore you are the ignorant one because im not on here asking if i gave my dog to somebody that is going to hurt it. and the Pit Bulls dont EAT it was my point so get it right.

  2. Its her dog now! Nothing you can do but move on and remember the memories you had with it!

  3. As a person who got a dog from someone through a similar site, i had no problem in sending the last owner pics and updates, so she knew he was ok, she gradually stopped asking of her own accord. Its  a nice genuine thing to do when someone gives you their beloved pet, to prove you are taking care of her.

i think the woman you gve your dog probably sold her, given how much chis cost. sorry.

  4. I'm sorry you had to give away your chihuahua, we have a female. I hope everything is alright. Just keep trying to get in touch with her. Good luck.

  5. How daft are you ! You should of researched the woman carefully, she could be anyone, or asked an animal welfare chairty to help you with background checks. Did you ask for ID and an address?. I don't think there is a lot you can do,perhaps if you have an address go round just to ask if you can see the dog, if you can't or dont't thats about it.

I'm sure your dogs fine but you realy should of taken more care in giving away your dog. But it is her dog now and maybe she just doesnt want to be botherd, but it is odd if she promised to give you updates.

  6. I am sorry to say but it sounds like this lady could have scammed you. If you have her address and number and go show up at her home and the dog is gone, then what will you do?  I understand you feeling guilty about this, but there is nothing you can do about it now, all you can do is consider this a valuable lesson - know the party who you are giving the dog to - how about Petfinders? Craigslist is too transient.  You are right animals that are free are targeted by people who fight dogs.

  7. well, well, well, ugh sorry to tell u this but that was prolly the DUMBEST decision u ever made... u should have gave it to a close friend or someone u know..cause that poor lil dog is prolly died = /.........

  8. sorry but it not your dog anymore

  9. nothing she now is the legal owner

  10. Just remember you gave the dog away, she probably doesn't want pesting and wants to move on with her new pet.

  11. I think if she is ignoring you then give a message and say pick up my dog at what ever time u want her to pick it up and just if your 1 year old son is allergic i mean if u want to have your son sick then keep it but i would sell your dog  for a good price and then i would take it but it is your choice.

  12. You have to remember that the Chihuahua is not yours anymore, and that you gave her away. Some people just don't like to be bugged. But i do agree that she should have sent you atleast something about the dog. I hope you feel better.
