I have bottle of cycle that was left open slighty oppened, do you think the bottle needs to be completely closed to save the good bacteria? Also can i put a goldfish pellet into the bottle to feed the bacteria for ammonia?

  1. Unless the bottle was refrigerated, there won't be any live bacteria whether it was open or not.  For nitrifying bacteria to experience a period of dormancy, they need temperatures between 32* and 39*F.  Without oxygen and ammonia, the bacteria will quickly die, otherwise.

  2. That stuff is useless.  Unless you buy refrigerated Bio-spira you might as well buy a bottle of water.  Bacteria can't live in a bottle like that for any length of time.  It's just a rip off.
