I really want to wear my contacts up until the surgery or atleast up until a few days before the surgery. My doctor told me not to wear my contacts 2 weeks beofre the surgery because they change the shape of your cornea or generally your eye, not sure. Anyway, did anyone wear their contacts up until the surgery and was it a big deal or do you think I can get away with it?

  1. Can you imagine a normal life without vision? No, not even for a second.  Our eyes are extremely delicate, they demands continuous attention and care throughout our life. In case, if doctors suggest something, one should follow it without any hesitations. Lasik surgery is a surgery with many risks. The procedure is short and painless, but several pre-surgical measures need to be undertaken – one such is not to use contact lenses 2 to 3 weeks prior to the surgery.  If others can follow, why can’t you? After all these are your eyes nature’s best gift and you want best for them.  Do not ruin the good fortune of the surgery with your arrogance. It changed the quality of life for many.  Do some sacrifices it won’t go waste…

  2. I had it done, and why would you spend all of that money so that the surgery could be done wrong???  I'm going to say this in the nicest way possible, stop being a moron.  They actually slice off a peice with a laser, would you want your peice to be cut wrong so that when its put back on, they cut it too thin because the shape of your eye measurements are wrong and then you STILL need glasses anyways????   Please don't let your vanity of not wanting to wear your glasses mess up the best thing that you could possibly do?  I wore glasses for 16 years and needed my glasses to find my glasses, now I only need glasses to read and I thank God every day that I was able to afford this surgery because it has enhanced my life in so many ways.   I don't think that you could get away with it anyway, they take measurements again before the surgery and if they are exactly the same then I think that they would know that you never left your contacts out for your eye to resume its natural shape.

  3. Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.

They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

    Hope this helps.

  4. The doctor told you not to wear them for a reason. If he says they change the shape of your eye, then they change the shape of your eye, and the surgery is dependent on that. Doctors generally don't BS you with surgical directions. Don't wear them, suffer with the glasses for two weeks.

  5. You absolutely should not do it.  They should be out two weeks for standard lenses, one month for toric (meaning astigmatism) or extended wear (meaning lenses you sleep in) prior to the surgery.  The lenses change the physiology of your eye and could make the treatment algorithm false.  I hope you wouldn't pay all that money for the treatment only to jeopardize it by not following the protocol.
