What do the makah whalers TODAY use the whales for? I heard they dont sell it anymore and there isnt really any use for supplies... then y do they hunt whales??????

Bragging rights.    If they really wanted to follow tradition they would chase down the whales in hand made canoes and risk being killed while trying to harpoon them by hand and drag the huge thing in instead of shooting them with a high powered riffle and hauling them in with an outboard motor.

yes, the first answerer is right. it is their ceremony to do that hunting. but during the early times, after the ceremony, they eat those huge whales after doing the spiritual ceremony thing. i just hope they will fully understand that what they are doing is bad for the ecosystem of these whales.
