Question:

I have a question about male symptoms and the possibility of STD?

My partner advised me that he has experienced burning urination and severe diarrhea for two days, and that his doctor advised him to come in and be screened for STDs. We have only been with each other for the past 14 months, and have both been screened within the last 6 months. I have no symptoms, and was just screened last week during my annual cervical exam. My partner is very upset, and I tried telling him that in all likelihood it is not an STD, but something like a UTI.

However, in searching symptoms I cannot find anything STD-like, or urinary infection that lists burning urination and diarrhea together as possible symptoms for a male.

And my question is, what is the likelihood this could be an STD versus something simple like a UTI?

  1. The burning is probably caused by a mild UTI. The Diarrhea issues are most likely unrelated and are probably a common stomache bug or possible mild food poisoning.

Occam's razor - "the simplest solution most often correct"

  2. Diarrhea can happen for any reason. He could of ate something weird. The burning when he goes to the bathroom is probably a UTI or yeast infection (most likely). He should still go see a doctor and make sure it's not a STD though.

  3. i think it a uti

  4. It could be a kidney stone, std, uti, or something else.

It could be an irritation of the uretha, allergic reaction to somethhing, or even caused by a medication if he is on anything.

He may or may not have an std. But if you were screened and you're negative but he comes back positive, you may have to ask him some questions.

Most stds can be cured with antibiotics. UTI's & kidney infections can generally feel better after taking things like AZO, cranberry juice, and lots of water.

Just try flushing the system. Is he having any pain in his back kidney area? Tat could be another indicator of something.

He is doing the right thing by getting checked.

  5. It might be a combination of two different problems. He probably got a stomach bug or something, and that run down his immune system causing a UTI. It happens to me quite often- after I fight something really nasty, like the flu or something, I usually get a UTI or even sometimes a kidney infection.

  6. HE probably has uti.... AND has diarrhea
