I have been giving him puree foods for a very long time. Just about a month ago I have been trying to teach him to chew foods because what he used to do is put it in his mouth and swallow. So about a week ago he was eating thoses gerber melts in your mouth puffs. He has been feeding it himself and eating it. Now I am not sure if he is chewing it but he's eating it. 2 days ago he was eating those puffs cheetoes. He was biting into it and eating it. Again I am not sure if he is chewing. What should I do next? Do you think that that's it, he has learned to chew?

  1. My little boy has been chewing since before a year old. When he was 10mos old we gave him the chunk baby food and the mouth melts. When has was 12mos he was eating the toddler meals. Since your son is already almost 2 try cutting the food up in SM bites in case he does just swallow it but at least he will feel the different textures. If you are still giving him the baby food switch to the chunky kind.

  2. I do not mean to sound harsh but why are you still feeding a child that is almost 2 puree foods. But to answer your question yeah he has learned to chew just watch him when he eats things that may cause him to choke if he doesn't chew it well. To be safe while he's eating ask him to let see him chew real big make a game of it just until your sure he's chewing very well.
